& Residences is proud to announce the Second Annual Friends
of James Beard Benefit Weekend! The three-day event will be held
November 9-11, 2007. Benefiting both the James Beard Foundation
and the California Polytechnic State University College of Agriculture's
Sustainable Agriculture Resource Consortium, the weekend will
be a celebration of the culinary arts.
Kicking off the weekend festivities Friday will be a Champagne
and Caviar tasting from around the world; Saturday's events include
an interactive cooking demonstration with Lido's Executive Chef
Evan Treadwell followed by a luncheon and wine seminar with famed
Master Sommelier Peter Neptune. The afternoon features an interactive
cooking demonstration with Lido Pastry Chef Benjie Puga. Sunday's
events begin with a jazz band reception and the weekend culminates
with the main event “The James Beard Foundation Benefit
Dinner" a seven-course dinner featuring epicurean creations
by Chef Evan Treadwell with all courses paired with local varietals.
Proceeds from this weekend?s events will go to both the James
Beard Foundation and a scholarship benefiting California Polytechnic
State University College of Agriculture?s Sustainable Agriculture
Resource Consortium. The Sustainable Agriculture Resource Consortium
(SARC) was created to advance sustainable food and agriculture
systems through education, demonstration of sustainable agricultural
practices, and facilitation of collaborative efforts both on campus
and in the surrounding community. SARC projects have included
curriculum development for Cal Poly students, informational lectures
for the general public, management of the Cal Poly Organic Farm,
and continuing education classes and professional development
seminars.
Individual event tickets range from $75-$200 per person per event.
Packages for the entire weekend including accommodations for two
people are available for $2045.00, and for four people $3495.00?all-inclusive.
The James Beard Foundation dinner tickets are $200 per person
and $175 for James Beard Members.
